Invisible Grills

Invisible Grills for Balconies

The balcony is where invisible grills matter most — it's the one opening in most homes that's genuinely open to a fall, and the one where residents most want to keep the view rather than cage it in.

Overview

Invisible Grills for Balconies

Balconies are the single most common place we install invisible grills. Unlike a window, a balcony is a space people actually stand in, lean on and let children play on — which makes fall safety a real, everyday concern rather than a hypothetical one. At the same time, a balcony is usually the best view in the house, so residents are reluctant to close it off with a heavy welded grill. Invisible grills are built for exactly this tension: tensioned stainless steel wires that form a genuine physical barrier while staying visually out of the way.

Why It Matters

Why Balcony Safety Matters

Open balconies are a recognised fall risk for young children, pets and elderly residents, especially above the ground floor. A conventional MS grill solves this but changes how the balcony looks and feels — many residents end up not using an unprotected balcony at all, which defeats the purpose of having one. An invisible grill lets the balcony stay in daily use without the safety trade-off.

Appearance

An Open View, Not a Cage

The wires are thin, closely spaced and held under tension within a slim frame, so from normal seating or standing distance they read as a faint line rather than a visible barrier. This matters most on balconies precisely because a balcony's main value is the view and the airflow — a solution that blocks either isn't really solving the problem.

Apartments & High-Rises

Apartment & High-Rise Balconies

The higher the floor, the more fall safety matters and the more residents want to preserve the view — which is why high-rise apartment balconies are where we install invisible grills most often. We check the balcony's parapet height, railing type and mounting surface on site, since these vary between towers and even between older and newer phases of the same complex.

Balcony Types

Balcony Configurations We Handle

Standard Parapet Balconies

A solid knee-height wall topped with an open gap — the most common Indian apartment balcony layout, and the most straightforward invisible grill installation.

Glass-Railed Balconies

Common in newer high-rises. The grill is fitted to work with the existing glass railing rather than replacing or hiding it, adding safety without changing the balcony's design.

Full-Height Open Balconies

Balconies with a floor-to-ceiling opening and no parapet need wires run across the full height, which we plan for during the site assessment.

Wraparound & Corner Balconies

L-shaped or wraparound balconies need the wire layout planned around the corner junction so the barrier stays continuous with no gap.

Durability

Strength & Maintenance

The wires are stainless steel, tensioned to act as a genuine barrier rather than a decorative addition, and the frame is fixed to a structurally sound point on the balcony — not just the tiling. Day-to-day maintenance is minimal: an occasional wipe-down and a periodic check that the tension hasn't slackened, which we're happy to advise on after installation.

Process

Installation on Your Balcony

Balcony installations follow the same process as any invisible grill job — site visit, layout and quotation, installation, and a quality check — but with extra attention to the parapet or railing type, drainage outlets, and any grille or AC unit already on the balcony that the wire layout needs to work around.

Pricing

  • Straight-run balconies vs. L-shaped or wraparound layouts
  • Floor height and site accessibility for installers
Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can invisible grills be fitted to a glass-railing balcony?

Yes — the wire frame is fixed to work with the existing glass railing rather than covering it, which is a common request in newer high-rise apartments.

Will an invisible grill work on an open, parapet-less balcony?

Yes, though the wire layout needs to run the full open height rather than just above a parapet wall — we confirm the right configuration during the site visit.

Is a balcony invisible grill strong enough for a home with small children?

The wires are tensioned specifically to act as a fall-prevention barrier, and we assess the exact opening on site before recommending a configuration, so we can talk through spacing and tension for a home with young children.

Do you install invisible grills on balconies in both Bangalore and Hyderabad?

Yes — balcony installations are our most common job in both cities. See our Bangalore and Hyderabad pages for city-specific details.
